Senior People Operations Manager

ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW
Greenlight America is the leading grassroots campaign force powering the nation’s clean energy transition at the local level. Founded in 2023, we support local organizations and volunteers working to get clean energy projects built in their communities. In the past two years we have advanced roughly 15 gigawatts of clean power to the grid, approximately 10x the size of the Hoover Dam.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Senior People Operations Manager will play a crucial role building and running the systems that power our employee experience. This is a highly collaborative, hands-on role that covers the full employee lifecycle, from recruiting and onboarding through performance management and employee relations, while also stepping in to support broader operational needs when needed.
A successful candidate for this position will have excellent problem-solving skills, the ability to think strategically, and a hands-on approach to managing day-to-day human resources. They will be adept at juggling multiple priorities and will possess a strong sense of initiative. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a nonprofit setting, a deep commitment to the mission of accelerating the clean energy transition, and a track record of successfully supporting organizational growth and development. They should be highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
The position is remote and reports to the Senior Operations Director.
PRIMARY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
People Operations

Serve as a trusted advisor to staff on HR matters, including benefits, policies, employee questions, and conflict resolution.

Lead complex employee relations matters, including conflict resolution, performance improvement plans, and investigations.

Manage HRIS system(s) and maintain accurate employee records and documentation.

Lead onboarding and offboarding processes to ensure smooth transitions.

Coordinate benefits administration with our PEO and ensure compliance with federal and multi-state employment regulations.

Maintain knowledge of emerging trends, best practices, and regulatory updates in human resources to ensure compliance and continuous improvement.

Partner with the Senior Operations Director to manage performance review cycles and support manager development.
Recruiting & Talent Acquisition

Lead the full-cycle recruiting process, from job scoping to offer negotiation, ensuring a diverse and inclusive candidate pipeline.

Build scalable recruiting processes and hiring manager toolkits that support organizational growth.

Manage external recruiter relationships and monitor recruiting performance metrics.

Partner with hiring managers to ensure a smooth and equitable hiring process.
Training & Development

Manage and administer HR trainings for staff and ensure completion.

Program with Senior Operations Director to create a training and professional development program.
Culture & Engagement

Develop initiatives to strengthen culture, engagement, and retention, including staff surveys, recognition programs, and internal communications.

Plan and execute staff retreats, engagement events, and manager training sessions to build a strong, connected team.
General Operations

Enhance people operational systems and administrative support services through improvements to each function and coordination between functions.

Provide cross-functional support to the Operations team as needed.

Other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
We are especially interested in candidates with the following qualifications:

4+ years experience of relevant professional experience in human resources or people operations.

1+ year experience in operations management.

Experience with multi-state employment compliance.

Ability to analyze and resolve complex issues.

Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Passion for accelerating the clean energy transition

Preferred: experience working in support of clean energy
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
The base annual salary for this position is $90,000-$120,000. We offer an excellent benefits package which includes 100% employer paid premiums for medical, dental, and vision insurance, unlimited paid time off, monthly technology stipend, and retirement contributions through 401k and Roth plans.
